TWO INSPIRATIONS FOR PULSE VOLITARI

A fusion of celestial shapes and cutting-edge automotive design, the Pulse Volitari wireless charger draws two major inspirations from unexpected worlds: a Marvel superhero paired with Porsche's sculpted aerodynamics.

THE ILLUSION OF SPEED

INSPIRATION N. OO1

THE SILVER SURFER

The concept of the wireless charger takes inspiration from The Silver Surfer — controlling energy and matter whilst gliding effortlessly across the vastness of space seemed fitting for the wireless nature of our product. First introduced by Marvel in 1966,  the Silver Surfer became one of Marvel’s most iconic figures — a cosmic wanderer who defies gravity, travelling across galaxies on a board.

In childhood, The Silver Surfer wasn’t like any other character. Chrome was a rare sight, yet in comics and cartoons, it felt celestial — weightless, otherworldly. The way Silver Surfer glides, controls energy, and defies gravity — it all felt like the perfect analogy for a wireless charger.

We wanted to capture that feeling — a streamlined, uninterrupted flow of energy in a static object. The charger’s elongated surface, like the Silver Surfer’s board, feels like it was designed to travel at the speed of thought.

INSPIRATION N. OO2

PORSCHE 911 SPEEDFORM

But there’s another layer — beneath the sleek, leather-wrapped surface, the metal base features a sculpted speedform taking inspiration from automotive design. A nod to the generations of 911s, taking the aerodynamic form of the nose and headlight humps, simplifying it to its purest form.

For Pulse Volitari, these sculpted humps create a feeling of motion, subtly lifting the charger, giving a near-floating effect to embody the wireless nature of the charging system.

At Lunar Artefacts, we believe design is a way to weave stories and history into our creations, carrying forward ideas that we hope will inspire the next generation.
